Tesla energy wall is designed to store energy in residential buildings in rechargeable lithium battery, it will achieve the transfer of load, backup power, and solar power self-sufficiency. Wall contain Tesla energy lithium battery pack, liquid thermal control system, and a set of accepted solar inverters Divisions instruction software.
The PowerWall has two different models using 2 different generic cell chemistries. Tesla uses proprietary technology for packaging and cooling the cells in packs with liquid coolant. Elon Musk has given away the patents for Powerwalls as he did with Tesla cars.
The daily cycle 7 kWh battery uses nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry and can be cycled 5000 times The other is a 10 kWh battery, using a nickel-cobalt-aluminum cathode like the Tesla Model S,and is for weekly or emergency use and has higher energy density but a shorter cycle life of 1000-1500 cycles.
It includes a DC to DC converter to sit between a home's existing solar panels, and the home's existing DC to AC inverter. This set of equipment will be seamlessly installed on the wall, and the local power grid integration and energy to deal with excess electricity to consumers the flexibility to use their energy reserves.
Battery provide a number of facilities, including:
1, the transfer of load, saving economic costs - it can charge low prices in low power demand, when electricity demand at peak times higher output power;
2, to enhance the ability of solar energy from - the battery can store excess solar energy for use when there is no sun;
3, the power backup - provide power protection in power outage
Increase the capacity of the family household use of solar energy battery power wall, while providing backup power to protect the power grid interruption time.
